    Abstract:

In this workshop, Drs. Rich Cober (MicroStrategy CHRO) and Gonzalo Ferro (Securities and Exchange Commission, Personnel Psychologist) will provide an overview of the possibilities available to analysts today for communicating HR data utilizing data visualization tools. Gonzalo will provide an overview of the evolution of data visualization capabilities from Excel based, to desktop based and enterprise-level tools, providing examples of how these tools are used to communicate tactical and strategic information to senior leaders, managers, and employees. Rich will provide insight into how he has applied enterprise analytics tools in his role at MicroStrategy. They will then lead the facilitation of a workshop to learn how to use MicroStrategy’s Desktop Tool to collect, clean, and leverage data to create reporting and analytic dashboards that provide actionable insights for HR and business leaders. The workshop will feature survey data from the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) as a basis for learning to create simple visualizations (bar graphs, plots, etc.) and combining these to create more interactive dashboards. These form the basis for creating more relevant analytic dashboards that can be deployed within an organization.
